Heart & Dagger Tattoo: Creativity and Care Collide to Share Your Story Through Art

At Heart & Dagger Tattoo, we believe tattoos are more than just ink on skin—they’re stories, memories, and expressions of individuality. Located on 124th Street in Edmonton, our shop is a fun space where creativity and care turn into art you will treasure for a lifetime! Whether you’relooking for a personalized tattoo, a cover-up, a mastectomy tattoo, or permanent makeup, our co-op of artists love to bring your vision to life.

Body Art as Empowerment: Our Fun Philosophy

Heart & Dagger Tattoo was founded by Connie Westgate, a lifelong artist with a fine arts background and a passion for helping people reclaim agency over their bodies. Connie’s journey began at the age of eight, sketching and painting her way to a career that combines her artistic talent with her deep understanding of women’s health and psychology. With a degree in Women’s Studies and a background in counseling, Connie brings a unique perspective to the art of tattooing, especially when it comes to mastectomy tattoos, memorial tattoos, and tattoos for survivors of trauma.

Connie’s philosophy for her shop is, “The best tattoo and the best tattoo experience!” She believes tattoos can be therapeutic, helping clients heal emotionally while creating something incredibly beautiful and empowering. From new art to coverups to reworking old tattoos, Connie’s expertise ensures every client leaves with a piece they’re proud to wear.

“At Heart & Dagger, we’re a community. Our team of like-minded artists supports one another and our clients, ensuring everyone has a great experience in our shop.” Connie says. “In this space, you are never just a client. You are the fullest expression of your authentic self. It is our pleasure to help you tell and share your story through our art, and we thank you for that.”

Our Location: The Iconic 124th Street – The Heart of Edmonton’s Creative, Boutique District

Heart & Dagger Tattoo is located in Edmonton at 10715-124th Street, a premier destination known for its independent restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, and boutiques. This vibrant neighbourhood is the perfect backdrop for our creative space.

Walk-Ins Welcome

First Come, First Served

We accept walk-ins daily. Spots are assigned based on arrival order, so get here early to secure your place.

Size Guidelines

Walk-in appointments are designed for smaller tattoos (palm-sized or smaller). For larger pieces, please schedule an appointment to ensure we can give your tattoo the time and attention it deserves.

Finding Your Perfect Artist Match

Sometimes we may refer you to a different artist in our studio—even if they're not available for walk-ins that day. This isn't a rejection; it's our commitment to matching you with the artist whose style best suits your vision. Quality work is worth the wait, and we'd rather you get the perfect tattoo than a quick one.

Shop Rate Minimum

Professional tattooing requires professional standards. Our minimum reflects our investment in:

• Single-use needles for every client

• Premium disposable materials

• Proper aftercare supplies

• Every artist is blood-borne pathogen certified

• Shop is AHS inspected and approved

Walk-In Day Realities

While we do our best to accommodate everyone who waits, we can't guarantee same day service. Our artists are human: appointments can run long, emergencies happen, and unexpected situations arise. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to serve as many clients as possible. If budget or time constraints are a concern, we encourage you to return when you're ready for work that meets our standards—and yours.

Meet Our Artists in Our Collective

Connie Westgate

Connie is the heart and soul of Heart & Dagger Tattoo. With decades of experience in fine art and tattooing, she specializes in mastectomy tattoos, memorial tattoos, and intricate coverups. Her dedication to helping clients reclaim their bodies and tell their stories is unmatched.

Connie is best known for a tattooing style that is a mesmerizing blend of illustrated fantasy, where neo-traditional techniques meet the imagination of a storybook world. Vibrant colors and intricate details transform skin into a living canvas of fantastical tales. Her work feels alive, as if the characters and scenes might leap off the skin at any moment in a way that’s both enchanting, empowering, and fun.

Giving Back to the Community

Heart & Dagger Tattoo is proud to partner with SCARS (Second Chance Animal Rescue Society), a local organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals in need. This partnership reflects our commitment to giving back and supporting our community.

Every October, we host a special fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds go directly to SCARS. Over the past three years, this event has raised an incredible $25,000 to support their mission!  As passionate animal lovers (and yes, maybe a little crazy about them), this cause is close to our hearts, and we’re thrilled to make a difference for animals in need.

Learn more about SCARS and how you can help by visiting them online (or asking us.... we love to talk about SCARS!).
